Deck Guide: ⛈️ Storming up the Savage Land with Odin 🔨
My entry into the Savage Land Deckbuilding Contest
I’m sharing my entry into the Savage Land deckbuilding contest in the official Marvel Snap discord. The only requirement for decks in the deckbuilding contest is to include one of the three featured cards in the Savage Land season: Zabu, Kazar, or Storm.
For my entry, I’ve chosen to build around Storm. I’m a big believer that players should be able to use the filters in the deck building screen and build a deck around their favorite keyword. This is my take on a Series 3 On Reveal deck.
Storm 🤝 Odin
Storm 🤝 Odin is all about making Storm shine. I dropped an early version of this deck in my previous article this month. And it’s only gotten better since then.
This deck loves locations that are hard to play into.

Your opponents will find games with these locations cramped, they’ll struggle to play cards, and Storm will make this problem even worse for them. Meanwhile you will thrive, needing only a single lane to play White Tiger, Doctor Doom, Black Panther, and Odin into.
I recommend this deck for players of all skill levels, and I believe this is a strong ladder deck against other decks built around Series 3 cards.
Card Breakdown
Sunspot, Scorpion, Lizard
Sunspot is incredible, you could miss your turn 2 and 3 and still have a good chance of winning if Sunspot was your turn 1 play. Sunspot also gives you more options, sometimes doing nothing or playing a cheap card on turn 6 is the best play because Sunspot will grow!
Scorpion is a card that you play hoping it ends up generating 5+ power over the course of the game. Scorpion is extra strong against: Brood, Black Panther, and Moon Girl. Scorpion can also double dip if you end up playing him with Odin or Wong.
Lizard, serves a special purpose in this deck, he helps you get and maintain Initiative. Even Lizard’s power decreases later in the game, the early power can be crucial.
Initiative, is the resource that decides which player’s cards flip first. Each turn, initiative is given to the player who would have won the game had it ended on the previous turn.
Having initiative is hugely important in a deck with On-Reveal cards. Opponent’s Cosmos and Aeros get so much weaker if they don’t have initiative. Lizard goes a long way to giving us initiative, 5 power in one card; plus Lizard and Storm work well together, since Storm makes it hard for your opponent to fill Flooding!
Storm and Electro
Both Storm and Electro love to be played on turn 3. And having two great 3 cost cards makes it that much more likely that you’ll have one on turn 3.
I like to play Storm with one of my 1-2 cost cards, preferably on a lane where my opponent hasn’t played a card yet. Storm is best when followed up by Wong in a different lane, and cross-lane On Reveal effects on the following turns!
Electro let’s you do some seriously crazy stuff. Nearly any combination of a White Tiger/Black Panther on turn 4, 6 cost card on turn 5, and 6 cost card on turn 6 is going to produce a ton of power. Some of my favorites are
Black Panther → Zola, → Odin
Black Panther → Doctor Doom → Odin
If you don’t have Electro, you can Thor or Wave instead.
Wong, White Tiger, Black Panther
Wong turns Doctor Doom, White Tiger, Odin and Black Panther up to 11. Wong turns each of these cards into powerhouses. It’s something you’ll have to play with to truly appreciate 😏.
White Tiger and Black Panther are also supporting cast for Odin and Wong. Each are 8 power without Odin or Wong, below average for a 5 cost card. But once you pair these 5 drops with Wong or Odin, they become 15 and 16 power respectively, which is a massive upgrade!
If you don’t have Wong, I’d consider Thor or Jubilee. If you are missing Black Panther, You could play Aero, Thor, Spider Woman or Gamora.
Arim Zola, Doctor Doom, Magneto, Odin
All of these big daddy 6 drops are strong in their own right. Each of these powerhouses have unique effects that you’ll want to keep in mind as you sequence your early turns.
Arim Zola asks you to have an empty lane in the early turns so you have a place to play Black Panther to set up Zola. Arim Zola also can greatly benefit from locations like Monster Island and Gamma Lab.
On the whole, Zola is in this deck because the combos with Black Panther are so powerful. Arim Zola is a super high upside card, but playing a 6 cost card with zero power comes with risk-Armor, Aero, Cosmo, and Magneto are all very strong against Zola plays.
Doctor Doom, is nice and simple, he does the same thing every time, add a 5 power card to each location. Doctor Doom can be a really strong setup card on turn 5 if having initiative going into turn 6 is important in your game.
Magneto is an excellent 6 drop. He can combo with Storm, enabling a surprise win in Flooding or filling up board space that your opponent was relying on. Magneto benefits greatly from the increased prevalence of 3 and 4 cost cards with Silver Surfer and Zabu decks being popular.
Odin brings the whole squad together. Letting you double up on Doctor Doom’s on reveal is 10 extra power, White Tiger’s 7 power, or Black Panther’s at least 8 power. It is worth remembering that Black Panther is the only card that increases the power of the Odin lane, the others throw power across to other locations.
