It’s been awhile since I got to play with old faithful. Destroyer was the first Series 3 card I fell in love in the beta. I played a pure Destroyer deck before I made Ongoing Destroyer. Then Destroyer got a 1 power nerf, and I haven’t played with him since.
That all changed about a week ago when I finally bought Galactus and went to my favorite data aggregator Untapped.gg.
I’m a budget gamer by choice, so I don’t have Knull yet, but this deck caught my eye.
My first impressions of this deck:
This is not a pure Galactus build around. He is there because he is incidentally good.
This deck wants to be played in metagames where Destroy is underrepresented for two reasons: Goblins are bad into other destroy cards and Armor is strong against this deck.
Shuri has both a high ceiling and low floor. If you don’t have a 5 drop to pair her with…yikes.
As of 5/10 I have a 73.9% Winrate and +1 Average Cube Rate with this deck. Maybe I should snap more!
And after yesterday’s OTA update, Venom got a huge +2 power glow-up!
Quick Notes
Nimrod is almost always the best turn 5 play, especially with Shuri. Nimrod enables three powerful turn 6 options: Galactus, Destroyer, or two Destroy cards on Nimrod. They can’t play around all of these options!
Galactus destroys locations left to right. So if you are going for a turn 6 Galactus, you’ll want your Wolverines and Nimrods to be in the leftmost non-Galactus lane.
Nova wants to be the first card played in a location if you’re going to Venom the lane. If Bucky Barnes is in the lane, then Nova wants to be after Bucky.
Goblins are great into locations that restrict board space like, Savage Land, Grand Central Station, and Space Throne.
